    Call of Duty 4 Post-Mortem

IGN has posted up a new article today that takes a look back at what made Call of Duty 4 one of the best games in 2007. This is an interview with community manager FourZeroTwo.

IGN: Was there ever a concern, during development of COD4, that maybe you made a mistake deciding to leave the familiar confines of WWII?

    Robert Bowling:
I think pre-launch of Modern Warfare, there was the concern that people would perceive it that way. We were huge fans of WWII and that's what we've been doing with Call of Duty [in the past]. When word got around that we were going modern, a lot of the community was a little skeptical. I think once it came out, we showed that the core mechanics of Call of Duty were still there, I don't think there was any doubt that we [didn't] make a mistake. We wanted to flex our creative muscles, go in a different direction and step it up. I don't think we were doubting [our decision] once it was done.
